I became involved with Sakhi mainly as a means of giving back to my community... Read more Create Change Host A Gathering!Support Sakhi while raising awareness about domestic violence!Sakhi is calling on all community members, volunteers, and friends to support our work to end violence against women of South Asian descent while enjoying the company of your friends and family. Host a gathering for Sakhi – a tea party, dinner, wine tasting, cocktail party, brunch, etc. - whatever you want - it's your party! It’s simple, rewarding - and brand new. For the first time in our history, community members across the country (and world!) are gathering with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues in their homes, restaurants, community centers, and other venues to enjoy a meal and raise urgently-needed funds to help us support domestic violence survivors, their families, and our community. You can make a critical difference. Sakhi believes that true community change can happen only from within - use your personal power to take action and help create change. Host a gathering, start a conversation, get people involved, and create change! As a host, you organize the gathering and invite the guests. Create your own favorite dishes, make dinner, hors d’oeuvres, or just keep it simple and order in! Instead of bringing wine, flowers, or dessert, ask each of your guests to make a donation to help Sakhi end violence against women. Below are links to different tools which can help you plan your gathering for Sakhi!
As a registered host, you will receive an information packet including important domestic violence information, two Sakhi videos, organizational information, and ways to get involved in the effort to end violence against women to share with your guests. Your gathering is guaranteed to be an engaging and memorable get-together! This is a great way to get involved and give back to our community. Join Sakhi’s community supporters in taking action and creating change - become a gathering host. |
